freestanding wood stoves
Since modern stoves are durable, long-lasting products and since their setting in your home is often “custom fit”, it makes sense to take a little extra time to ensure that you’re making the right choice. The first question that people often ask us is: which fuel is right for me? If you’re going to depend on it to do the bulk of your heating and you want the lowest fuel cost, then wood-burning is number one. Modern wood-burning stoves must meet rigorous EPA standards for clean burning and efficiency. Where older stoves ran at about a 45% efficiency, the norm for new stoves is about 65-70%. This means that you’ll use less wood, your chimney (and the outside air) will stay much cleaner and your stove will probably hold a fire longer. Wood also is a renewable, greenhouse gas neutral, locally produced energy source. It burns when the power is out and can keep you comfortable, even on the coldest days.

freestanding gas stoves
If you’ve heated with wood for many years and are no longer able to or willing to deal with cordwood; if you need to heat a single room but don’t want to extend your central heating system; if you want the look and feel of a woodstove, but only for a few hours at a time; or even if you have electric heat and want to replace it with a more economical, aesthetically pleasing alternative, then a convenient, efficient gas stove may be just the thing for you. Gas stoves come in a variety of sizes and styles, from contemporary steel to traditional cast iron and soapstone. One of their finest features is installation flexibility. They can be vented into existing chimneys or can be “direct vented,” using outside air for combustion. This means that they can be safely installed in almost any setting. Like woodstoves, they run without power and can even be thermostatically controlled.

wood stove inserts
Did you know that with most fireplaces more heated air goes up the chimney than is radiated into your home by the burning wood? Lovely to look at, but… A wood-burning fireplace insert can provide a full time heat source for one room or a whole house and you’ll still get a beautiful view of the fire. We can help you choose the right model and size and provide complete installation services.
gas stove inserts
Designed to fit into your fireplace perfectly, gas inserts offer a convenient source of space-heating that combines the appearance of an open fire with the efficiency of controlled combustion. We offer custom installations, so you don’t have to sacrifice looks for performance. One can control the level of heat by adjusting the flame up or down and by circulating the air with powerful built-in blowers.
pellet stoves
Pellet stoves and fireplace inserts are for you if you’re looking for a way to have convenience, thermostatic control and installation flexibility, along with the lower operating cost of burning a non-fossil fuel. We install them into existing flues and through side walls, usually with a section of vertical piping. Pellet appliances are an attractive, reliable way to control the high cost of heating. The stoves burn fuel that is derived from many different biomass materials including: sawdust, wood chips, straw and nut shells. Some stoves even burn corn.
